PE Fusion is a high-strength modified acrylic adhesive. This strong adhesive is most commonly employed in order to facilitate the coupling of an HDPE pipe to standard PVC couplings and other non-standard materials, such as steel, fiberglass, aluminum, ABS, and more.

The benefits of the PE Fusion System include the following:

• PE Fusion is a product that chemically bonds polyolefin to other dissimilar materials 
• PE Fusion is practically immune to impact stress that may be experienced by other epoxy-based adhesives
• PE Fusion cures quickly in most temperatures (from 32ºF (0ºC) to 95ºF (35ºC)). PE Fusion will normally set in 3 to 5 minutes. But, regardless of the temperature at the time of application, 100% cure time is 24 hours.

It is important to note that the PE Fusion System is not intended for use in the bonding of natural gas transmission pipes. Furthermore, in order for utility providers to ensure the desired result, proper preparation is imperative. It is recommended that the PE Fusion product is only applied to clean surfaces that have been “roughed up” or “scraped” using the scuff pad or pipe scraping tool.

Finally, it is essential that the PE Fusion installer wears protective gloves (preferably rubber or latex gloves), not only to prevent any skin contact but also to assist with the spreading and application of PE Fusion to the appropriate contact surfaces by using his or her finger.
